MEXICAN PORTS MOVE HISTORIC NUMBER OF CONTAINERS IN 2021

According to Semar, in 2021 the largest number of container movements in history was recorded with a total of 7,855,715 20-foot containers. This represents an increase of 23.4% (3,979,665 containers) in imports and 19.8% (3,870,835) in exports compared to last year.

In addition, it was noted that a total of 5,557,837 containers were moved through the Pacific through the ports of Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Ensenada, Mazatlán, Puerto Chiapas, Guaymas, Salinas Cruz and Pichilingue.

On the Gulf side, 2,297,878 containers were reached through Veracruz, Altamira, Progreso, Tuxpan, Tampico, Coatzacoalcos, Puerto Morelos, and Dos Bocas.
